John Askey’s Salop have put in encouraging displays against Bradford and Charlton so far in League One but are yet to take any points.

Australian Filan wants to see Town’s attacking players develop a ruthless streak to take advantage of their periods of dominance.

Assessing the group’s spirit after two defeats, Filan said: “I think the players have bought into what the manager wants and they can see the way he wants to play and the positive aspects.

“I think they’ve enjoyed the approach the manager wants them to take, especially with the ball.

“The results haven’t been what we’ve wanted but the amount of play, possession and attacking chances we’ve created in a couple of games has been very good.

“We just need to take our chances, probably be a bit more ruthless in front of goal and cut out one or two individual mistakes and we won’t be far away.”

Town fans are yet to see much of several of Askey’s 15 new signings. But Filan stressed that every player has a lot more to give.

He added: “I would say after two games you haven’t seen everything that we’ve got just in terms of players that have played.

“It’s a chance for our fans to come and see the players and the way we want to play at home. I know the lads are keen to get out impress and win the game.”
