Former Manchester City youngster James Horsfield is believed to be among Shrewsbury Town's trialists for today's friendly at Bristol City.

Boss John Askey, right, with first team coach George Pilkington

Horsfield, 22, can either play right-back or central midfield and will be eager to impress boss John Askey.

The Mancunian had loan spells at Doncaster and Dutch side NAC Breda from The Etihad before joining the Eridivisie side permanently in 2017, signing a three-year deal.

Other trialists at Ashton Gate include goalkeepers Ben Wilson, Steve Arnold and midfielder Doug Loft.
