The 22-year-old England C forward joins Town on a two-year deal for an undisclosed free.

Okenabirhie notched 12 goals for Dagenham & Redbridge last season.

“I’m delighted to have signed and I’m looking forward to next season,” said Okenabirhie.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity and I can’t wait to start.

“I’ve had a good two years at Dagenham and I’ve really enjoyed my time there.

“I think it’s the right time to step up and Shrewsbury is the right club to do it.”

Okenbirhie feels he will be able to make the step up to League One from the National League and hopes to be a benefit the team .

“It’s going to be a change for me. I’m ready for it and looking to embrace it and contribute to a good season next year,” the forward added.

“I’ve played in League One before with Stevenage, so it is nice to be back and now I think I’m ready to make an impact.

“I think Shrewsbury is the right fit and I’m raring to go.

“You always have to have belief in your ability. In football things can change really quickly and I found myself in non-league. I just kept working hard on my game.

“Thankfully I have been given an opportunity to be here and hopefully now I can kick on and do really well for Shrewsbury.”

Okenabirhie joins Shrewsbury as another player who has made the step up from non-league football and feels he can emulate the success of previous players.

“It shows the club gives players opportunities from lower leagues,” Okenabirhie said.

“Shown by the team performance last season, anything is possible. I’m hoping to come in and do the same and add to what the team did last year.

“I’m a forward, I can play down the middle or either side and I like to contribute with goals and assists.

“Hopefully I can bring that and the fans will be able to see what I can do.”
