Here we take a look at the past five meetings between the sides, ahead of the promotion contest on Sunday.

Shrewsbury 0-1 Rotherham, February 17, 2018

The visitors proved too powerful to handle for Paul Hurst’s men as they edged to a narrow victory at Montgomery Waters Meadow.

Millers skipper Richard Wood scored a scrappy winner on a tough day for Town – who had also lost on the previous Saturday at home to Plymouth.

Dean Henderson was at fault for the goal as Rotherham scored for the 26th game in a row.

Referee Carl Boyeson was not a popular man in a second half broken up by a number of needless stoppages.

Rotherham 1-2 Shrewsbury, November 18, 2017

A memorable away day saw Stefan Payne notch a winner four minutes into added time on Hurst’s first return to the club he served with such loyalty.

The hosts started on the front foot and Henderson made a superb penalty save from Millers’ top scorer Kieffer Moore. Moments later a fine Jon Nolan strike had the visitors ahead.

The game swung after the break as Abu Ogogo was sent off and Richie Towell levelled 16 minutes from time.

Cue Payne’s late winner.

Shrewsbury 0-3 Rotherham, January 17, 2014

Graham Turner’s final game in charge was a forgettable one.

Town were three goals behind inside 21 minutes amid a toxic atmosphere at the Meadow.

Tom Hitchcock, Ben Pringle and James Tavernier had Steve Evans’ visitors out of sight.

It was the sixth home game in a row in which Town had failed to score – spanning eight hours of football.

Turner stepped down four days later.

GT described the reverse, his final of 428 games in charge, as ‘appalling’ and ‘embarrassing’.

Rotherham 2-2 Shrewsbury, August 24, 2013

Jon Taylor, now of Rotherham, opened the scoring in South Yorkshire but, despite being the better side for most of the entertaining clash, Town were denied the victory.

Alex Revell levelled 10 minutes into the second half before Tom Bradshaw netted after the hour to edge Turner’s men back ahead.

But Daniel Nardiello’s header meant a point apiece.

The Millers remained unbeaten five games into League One, while it was a fifth point from five games for Town.

Shrewsbury 3-1 Rotherham, April 14, 2012

Turner’s Town took a big stride towards promotion from League Two after coming from behind in Evans’s first game as Millers chief.

Ryan Cresswell headed a shock opener for the visitors against Town – unbeaten in 30 games at the Meadow.

Terry Gornell’s brace, either side of Aaron Wildig’s finish, had Town closing in on the third tier.

A win at home to Port Vale and a draw at Accrington set Shrewsbury up for the clincher at home to Dagenham a fortnight later.
