Bryn Morris will be ready to take his Shrewsbury chance – Paul Hurst

Shrewsbury boss Paul Hurst believes ‘top professional’ Bryn Morris will be ready if called upon at Northampton tonight.

Hurst rates midfielder Ben Godfrey as doubtful for tonight’s trip after limping out of Saturday’s win at Scunthorpe with a slight hamstring strain.

While Hurst opted to send eventual match-winning Stefan Payne on during the first half in Lincolnshire, central midfielder Morris is the most likely deputy tonight.

Hurst conceded the former Middlesbrough man has found it tough to break through Town’s impressive midfield trio of Godfrey, Jon Nolan and Abu Ogogo.

“I think Bryn has done pretty well when he’s come in most times. There’s an element of frustration on his part,” said Hurst of the midfielder, who has played 18 times in all competitions this season.

“He hasn’t been able to get a real run of games.

“I think you do have to take things into context. Ultimately it’s about what I feel, but when I speak to other managers and they are very quick to comment on how well those three do and how they complement each other.

“It’s been very difficult and they’ve nearly always been fit.

“It’s been hard for Bryn to push himself in but he prepares as though he is going to play every game and is a top professional, a young lad that is fully committed to be the best he can be.

“I’m sure if he is given the opportunity he will do well again.”

Hurst added: “I’ve got options. Stef came on and did well, stuck his penalty away well and has been training like he has a point to prove.

“That’s great for myself and the team.”
