New Shrewsbury signing Luke Hendrie is raring to go and show what he can do after securing a permanent Town deal.

Paul Hurst finally managed to secure his man on 18-month terms from Premier League Burnley having previously tried to sign the versatile player last summer.

Instead Hendrie, 23, went on loan at boyhood club Bradford and played in the only side that have taken three points from Montgomery Waters Meadow in the league this season.

But after finally making a permanent move, the full-back – who is just as comfortable in midfield – insists he has settled into Shrewsbury with ease.

"I must say I've been for about four hours and the lads have been terrific," Hendrie said.

"I've been into a few clubs and sometimes it takes a couple of weeks to get used top it but everyone's made me feel welcome.

"The manager has told me they're a great set of lads and so far they've been great with me – hopefully that continues.

"I'm a versatile player, play right-back, left-back, midfield, wherever really. If the manager wants to me to play in the nets I'll play there!

"I just want to be out there playing and enjoying my football. I've got a good feeling about this club."

Hendrie, who has an option to remain with Town beyond the initial 18 months, remarked at Town's flying League One campaign.

Though the Yorkshireman is cup-tied for both the FA Cup and Checkatrade Trophy, so will not feature against Blackpool tomorrow or at West Ham next week.

"They're doing really well," he added. "Hopefully we can continue the good form. Sometimes it's difficult going into struggling teams to go get going but they're at the top of the table and I've just got a feeling I'll fit in straight away and hit the ground running.

"It's brilliant to have a permanent deal. It's a nice bit of security, you know where you'll be, you never know what'll happen if you go out on loan.

"It's great, I'm looking forward to moving into the area, settling down and showing everyone what I can do."
