While Town boss Paul Hurst revealed he has registered his interest about bringing back starlet Tyler Roberts for a second loan from West Bromwich Albion.

Godfrey, 19, sees his Canaries loan end next month but Hurst revealed that the youngster – who has impressed in his 22 Town outings – is likely to extend his stay.

Norwich boss Daniel Farke last week said that the ideal scenario was for Godfrey to remain at Montgomery Waters Meadow for the entire season.

Hurst said: “He’s done extremely well. What he is, and we have to remind ourselves, is a very, very young player.

“It’s his first real spell of playing first-team football. He played at York as a 16-year-old and no disrespect to himself or York but he probably just ran around.

“He will have had some instruction but when you’re 16 you probably don’t really comprehend what exactly is going on.

“Now he knows what he is and what his profession is. He will go on and have a really, really good career.

“I didn’t hear those words (from Farke) but we’ve had dialogue and it’s something that we might be able to do.

“We’ve had a positive chat so hopefully that’ll be one that we can get done.”

Godfrey has been linked with several sides, including Southampton, Swansea and West Brom.

Albion youngster Roberts, 18, is currently on loan at Town’s League One rivals Walsall.

His contract at The Hawthorns is up next summer, and Hurst has registered his interest in bringing him back to the Meadow – where he starred in helping Shrews secure their League One status last season.

“He’s the type of player I have on my radar, certainly,” Hurst said. “Tyler did extremely well for us last season.

“I’ve had a conversation, yes.”

Meanwhile, Hurst is happy for forward AJ Leitch-Smith, on loan at Dundee until next month, to extend his stay in Scotland.

The boss also added that homegrown defender Dom Smith, who is currently with Southport, is no longer needed at the Meadow.

Smith has made 20 appearances in the National League North for Kevin Davies’ struggling side, who have not won since September 2.

Leitch-Smith has netted four times in 14 games for Dundee.

Hurst said on Smith: “They haven’t indicated one way or another (on Dom Smith) as of yet. There’s been a change of manager there.

“Kevin Davies didn’t take Dom in. I’m sure we’ll find relatively soon.

“For me I think we’ve moved on from Dom coming back and being part of the squad.

“So from my point of view for Dom’s career it would make sense to find another club.”

He added on striker Leitch-Smith: “It seems as though they’re keen and that’s fine but it’s got to be right for everybody, that includes the player.

“I’m not particularly looking to bring AJ back into the fold but if we have to then we will.

“It looks like his future might be elsewhere.”
