Hurst’s side are on a 13-game unbeaten run in the league and could go back top after tonight’s clash against Bristol Rovers.

Town are on 31 points and only behind Wigan Athletic, who are better off by goal difference and travel to Gillingham.

As we are just in October, Hurst is refusing to get caught up in all of that.

He said: “I am not too concerned about that. We are happy to just continue doing our job and see where that takes us.”

Town go into tonight’s clash against Rovers at Montgomery Waters Meadow having drawn 1-1 at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

Hurst hailed the character of his side for picking up a point after going behind at Home Park.

“Every time we have gone behind, the players have responded,” he said.

“A point away from home is never a bad thing and we’re looking forward to Rovers, looking to keep our good home record intact.”

Tonight’s visitors have won six and lost seven so far in the league – drawing none.

On what to expect from them, Hurst said: “Possibly the unexpected.

“(Manager) Darrell (Clarke) is not frightened to change as he sees fit for any individual game. Formation-wise, he has always been quite flexible.

“We have seen them play quite recently but I’m not going into it thinking that is the way he’ll go.

“They have had some good results and some not so good results. They will be looking to challenge for the play-offs.”

Their top scorer Billy Bodin is unlikely to feature due to a hamstring injury.

Forward pairing Ellis Harrison and Rory Gaffney have 11 goals between them this season.

Hurst added: “Gaffney and Harrison are their two strikers at the minute and they can cause problems – they are a big lads and a good focal point for the team.”
