The Checkatrade Trophy Group E tie officially sees Albion’s under-21 side take on Paul Hurst’s men.

But as per the competition’s rules, the top-flight outfit are permitted to field five players over the age of 21, and Hurst’s deputy Chris Doig is expecting a handful of first-team regulars.

While the majority of Tony Pulis’s squad are absent on international duty, the likes of Allan Nyom, Claudio Yacob, Boaz Myhil and £15million man Oliver Burke could feature.

“It will obviously make the game a lot stronger, it should make it a lot more competitive for our lads,” said Doig. “It’s an international break so they’ll be looking to give first-team players a game that haven’t had as many minutes.

“It should mean for a good game.”

Doig urged the players to grasp their chance at a possible Wembley appearance.

He added: “I’ve been fortunate enough to do it. It happened later on and my advice to anyone that hasn’t done it is if you’ve got the chance then do it – because it’s a great experience to look on fondly.

“When you have a chance to go to places like Wembley, you don’t turn it down.”

Midfielder Bryn Morris back in contention to start.

The summer signing has not played for almost two months after knee surgery.
