The Montgomery Waters Meadow club are hoping for another boosted attendance to cheer on Hurst's unbeaten side.

More than 6,600 home fans were part of 8,202 fans that took in the previous home clash with Blackburn.

Town's also enjoyed increased home crowds against Wigan and Southend United.

And the boss insisted that the blue and amber faithful can make the difference in tight games at the top.

"They genuinely make a difference, whether you're behind in a game or tiring," said the boss.

"If everything's fine and you're flying you don't need them as much. If something goes against you – just a refereeing decision – the crowd get up and suddenly there's an extra yard and more determination.

"I do see it as a collective effort."

Town took almost 300 fans to Doncaster on Tuesday night as Arthur Gnahoua steered home a 94th minute winner to send Shrewsbury four points clear.

"The atmosphere and feeling in the ground - they waited until the final whistle and clapped the players off, an indication of them being pleased with what they saw.

"We appreciate that support, it would be great if we can get a similar crowd again and get behind the team again."

Town have appointed Marc Lindsey as their fitness coach.

Ex-Crawley and Peterborough strength and conditioning coach Lindsey began his role at the start of this season and fills the void left by Andy Hodgen earlier in the summer.

He has also previously worked with Ilkeston FC and came to Town highly-recommended.

He will carry out daily warm-up sessions with the players at Sundorne Castle and warm-ups and cool downs on match days.
