Town, who are five points clear at the top of League One, go up against the 1994/95 Premier League champions at the Montgomery Waters Meadow on Saturday.

Almost 7,000 attended the recent 1-0 home victory against Wigan Athletic and Caldwell wants another bumper crowd.

“Hopefully we can get a decent crowd here on Saturday,” he said.

“Hopefully, against Blackburn who not long ago were champions of this country, people will come out and watch the brand of football we are playing.

“I’d urge everyone, speak to your neighbour, speak to people in the street – we need all the support we can get.

“Come along and see how well the team are playing.

An initiative to look to boost attendances is that season ticket holders can move their seat in order to sit with a friend.

“We always try to accommodate new supporters,” added Caldwell.

“If they want to sit together, that’s not a problem. We need to get more supporters here.

“The success of the team has brought more and more people out, but I would urge more to come and support your local team.”

Boss Paul Hurst added: “It must be a good time to be a supporter.

“We want them to be part of it, enjoy it and get behind the lads.”
