Town have played five games from seven on the road so far this season and Paul Hurst's side were again well-backed by their away fans in one of the campaign's longest journeys to Gillingham.

Morris added to his account with the game's opening goal, with Alex Rodman netting the other in Town's 2-1 win.

"I'd like to mention how good the away support has been," said the Norwich loan man.

"It's been really good for the past few games but it'd be lovely to get our boots back on the home pitch in the next couple of games.

"I personally know how long that trip was and just to see that many fans had made long trip meant a lot to me and the team – it's good to give something back to them.

"Hopefully we can keep repaying their faith and keep going on a solid run, the good performances need to keep shining through."

The 21-year-old was left frustrated at Oxford the previous week after his lob, which video replay seemed to suggest was over the line, was ruled not a goal.

But his powerful finish in front of the away fans at MEMS Priestfield almost burst the net. Morris, who was withdrawn in the second-half to nurse his hamstring, also revealed the training ground inspiration behind his latest strike.

"I'm going to make sure I hit the back of the net from now on so it's not a question at all!" he added.

"I knew at the time, where I ended up after the diagonal run I could see the line and saw it bounce over. it's football I suppose.

"Doigy (assistant Chris Doig) is very good with me personally. We'll work on stuff together, we worked on the finish I did today in the week."
