Shrewsbury defender Zak Jules has joined League Two Chesterfield on loan until January.

Jules, 20, arrived on an undisclosed fee from Reading earlier in the summer but will seek first-team football at Chesterfield, who were relegated from the third tier last term.

The Londoner has not featured in Hurst's first-team thoughts despite catching the eye over pre-season.

He is behind Mat Salder and Toto Nsiala in the pecking order, while Hurst also made the six-figure capture of Omar Beckles.

Left-footed Jules was also an option to fill in at left-back for Shrewsbury.

Jules follows Dan James – who returned to parent club Swansea – and Ryan McGivern – who left on a free – out of the door on deadline day.
