The young Town shot-stopper, 20, came through the ranks at the Meadow and signed a new one-year contract at the beginning of the summer.

Rowley has shone on loan before and a move to the Lambs could be seen as the next step in his development.

He was on-loan with Chorley last season, earning rave reviews, and has also spent time with Slough Town, Halesowen Town and Watford's academy set-up.

Tamworth boss Andy Morrell hopes Rowley will improve with the competition for a first-team place with the Lambs.

“Shaun actually played for us in a pre-season game against Coleshill last season,” said Morrell. “We have been keeping tabs on him ever since.

“He played for Chorley for six months last season so he knows the league and ticks a lot of boxes. He was actually man of the match when we played Chorley last season.

“With Dan struggling with a niggle, we couldn’t take a risk. It hastened the need for a keeper.

“We now have two young lads who will be vying for one place. I want them to make each other better and drive each other on.”

The Lambs had also looked a Oxford keeper Jack Stevens and Morrell said: “We just felt that once Shaun came back on our radar, he had that bit more experience from playing in the league.

Rowley picked up an injury in Town's pre-season trip to Portugal but has stepped up his recent in recent weeks. He is very much a part of Paul Hurst's plans between the sticks, alongside Dean Henderson and Craig MacGillivray.

Tamworth, who play at The Lamb, finished ninth in the National League North last season.
