The 27-year-old midfielder, if fit and available, will lead Town out on a matchday this coming season while boss Paul Hurst has named defender Mat Sadler as his club captain.

Ogogo said: "It's great news. I try to play the same way and do what I do with the armband or not, but for the gaffer to put his faith in me to lead the boys – I am happy about that.

"It's a real honour. Everybody would love to be captain.

"I try to lead by example with performances and if someone is not doing that, I'll tell them.

"I like the responsibility and pressure of being captain."

Ogogo had spells with the armband last season and also served as skipper at previous club Dagenham & Redbridge.

He added: "I'm only 27 but I feel like I am one of the oldest here.

"With different people you need to approach it differently.

"Me and Sads are close and we will be working together closely, on and off-the-pitch."

Meanwhile, Hurst gave his thoughts ahead of tonight's friendly against Cardiff City at the Montgomery Waters Meadow.

"In Neil Warnock (Cardiff boss), you think you would get a Cardiff team closer to the levels you would expect from the first game of the season," he said.
