Paul Hurst happy with Shrewsbury Town attacking options

Paul HURST is in no hurry to add another striker to his ranks – but hasn’t ruled out another forward addition.

The Shrewsbury boss countered claims that Town are light in attack and is satisfied with the attacking options at his disposal.

Summer recruits Lenell John-Lewis and Carlton Morris are out-and-out centre-forwards, while Hurst insisted he could also call upon Louis Dodds and Arthur Gnahoua.

Hurst would be keen to add another recognised striker but believes Shrewsbury have sufficient firepower.

“I’d disagree (that we only have two strikers),” said Hurst. “I think we’ve got two out-and-out centre-forwards. If you look at Doddsy, realistically, I’ve said he can play different positions but he’d be classed as a striker. That’s three. Arthur 100 per cent can play wide, can play behind. Bryn’s played there too, Nolo (Nolan) also. We have got options.

“It’s certainly not pressing but if I felt the right option came available to us then it’s something I’d like to add to.

“With the addition of Carlton and, having looked with the squad and worked closely now, I think we have got quite a few options there.

“With him, Lenny, Doddsy, Arthur I think we’ve got four there.

“Probably two that in today’s game you’d class as ‘No.9s’ and two that are‘No.10s’.

“But if I could get another out-and-out striker in that I felt fitted the bill then that’s something we would look at.”

Hurst yesterday completed his 10th signing of the summer, landing right-back James Bolton from Gateshead on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

He is expected to make his Town debut tomorrow as Shrewsbury welcome Championship neighbours Wolves to Montgomery Waters Meadow tomorrow.

They could be short in defence with Zak Jules complaining of a slight injury after training yesterday and Toto Nsiala feeling under the weather. Mat Sadler, however, returned after a calf problem.
