Lenell John-Lewis wants Shrewsbury Town to learn good habits
New Shrewsbury Town striker Lenell John-Lewis has stressed the importance of a winning habit, writes Adam Philpott.
The former Grimsby forward featured from the bench in last Saturday’s 2-1 victory against Championship side Aston Villa and believes that a winning momentum will be key for the coming season.
“It was nice to be out on the home pitch in front of home fans,” said the 28-year-old. “The lads were great in the first half.
“It was great to be out there, I fully enjoyed it, I had a nice run-around, and like I said it was just nice to be at home and feel the atmosphere.
“It’s nice to get a habit in the team and a winning habit at that, it would be great if we could do that for the rest of the season.”
John-Lewis hopes to see fans turn out in numbers at the Montgomery Waters Meadow for Shrewsbury’s friendly clash with Wolves tomorrow, as Town look to reproduce last weekend’s display.
More than 2,700 away tickets have been sold for the friendly. The striker was quick to highlight the danger Wolves pose under new boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
“I think the fans will turn out again and support the team and hopefully that can get us over the line, a good performance and a good fitness test again and hopefully a nice win,” he added.
“I’ve played them previously and I know they’re always physical and they’re normally a strong side.
“It’s going to be interesting to see what they’ll be like with a foreign manager, it’ll be a good test for us because we might face something like that in the season.”
