Nine new additions have helped bulk Hurst’s squad as he prepares for a first full season with the Montgomery Waters Meadow club.

And Rodman, who was one of the boss’ first Shrewsbury signings in January, has been impressed with what he’s seen from his new team-mates.

“Everything that I’ve seen so far from the boys that have come in, I think we’ve made some good acquisitions and we’re covered pretty well,” said the Town wideman.

“I think everything that we have brought in so far looks good, looks positive, in all positions, so that will be good moving forward.”

Rodman, who played under Hurst at Grimsby, is good friends with Shrewsbury new-boy Lenell John-Lewis.

The pair were team-mates at the Mariners and will tackle the likes of ex-Premier League outfits Portsmouth, Blackburn and Wigan this season.

He added: “There’s some huge teams that came up and down.

“It’s a fantastic league now, so it will be interesting to see how some of them do. They’ll be some surprises at the top and some surprises down the bottom.

“Hopefully we can be one of those towards the top.”
