Salop were drawn away to Championship side, Nottingham Forest in what will be a tough match-up for Hurst's side.

However, the boss is still looking forward to the opening cup clash of the season.

“It will be a tough game but when you looked at the seeding’s that were in place you knew it would be no matter what” said Hurst.

“It’s away from home and against a big club but it will be a game I’m sure the players will look forward to and we will see how we get on there.

“It’s a nice game for Chris Doigy to go back to his former club, we know a couple people over at Forest and we had Ryan Yates on loan from them last season.

“The Carabao Cup comes round really quickly and over recent years teams from lower down beat teams from higher up.

“Last season I took my previous club to Derby County, in the end we lost the game 1-0 but we did pretty well.”

The first-round games are set to take place on the week commencing August 7th.

Formerly known as the EFL Cup, the draw took place in Bangkok, Thailand, the home of Carabao Energy Drink, who now sponsor the competition.

And Hurst is hoping to see the Salop contingent make the trip to the East Midlands.

“I’m sure we will take a few supporters across to Nottingham and from that point of view it’s a big ground and a club that is steeped in history”.

“I’m sure they will be looking to have a better season than at they had last.

“No matter what side they put out it we know it will be a tough game".
