Town are awaiting decisions from Mat Sadler, Shaun Rowley and Bryn Morris as the trio of out-of-contract players offered terms while a fourth, Shaun Whalley, agreed a new two-year deal.

Thirty-two-year-old defender Sadler is understood to be keen to remain at Greenhous Meadow and will conduct talks with boss Hurst today.

While a decision on promising shot-stopper Rowley, 21, is imminent but midfielder Morris, also 21, is currently away.

Town's chief remained coy on which duo he expected to secure their blue and amber future, but Hurst has previously made it no secret that Morris, who arrived from Premier League Middlesbrough on a six-month deal in January with a view to catching the eye, may have potential suitors higher up the leagues.

"I've had contact with all three through various means, not all direct to me," said Hurst. "I'm due to speak to Mat today (Monday), the other two, Bryn is away and Shaun I'm expecting something very quickly.

"Honestly I'd expect to have two at the club next season. One I'm not sure – we'll see where that goes.

"Without being too blasé about it, if lads think they're going to go onto better things, with the two younger lads certainly, there'll be compensation if they're going elsewhere.

"I think for them two in particular, the deals are there, and we're still at the point in their careers where it's an opportunity so it's whether or not they want to grasp that or they think they're better elsewhere."

Should Morris and Rowley decide to take up offers elsewhere, due to being under the age of 24, compensation will be payable to Shrewsbury.

On Morris, who largely impressed in his 13 outings, Hurst added: "If you look at Bryn, I gave him credit for leaving Middlesbrough but it got him a platform to play.

"Probably more people would've took notice than him playing 23s football."

Meanwhile, Hurst ruled out a move for rumoured target, former Port Vale defender Remie Streete.

The 21-year-old recently departed the relegated Staffordshire outfit and is available on a free transfer.

"It's an easy link, but at this moment in time we're not pursuing," said Hurst.
