Promotion for Shifnal agreed

Shifnal Town’s promotion to step five has been confirmed as the FA published their restructuring of the non-league system.

Town have been promoted to the Midland League Premier Division on an average points method after two table-topping campaigns in the West Midlands Premier Division – which will no longer exist after changes this summer – were cut short.

Step four club Market Drayton Town have moved from the Northern Premier League south east division into a new NPL West, where their travel will be reduced.

Step five outfit Whitchurch Alport will join Shifnal in the Midland League having been switched from the North West Counties Premier Division.

Other Shropshire clubs involved in the now defunct West Midlands Premier have moved lateral into different leagues.

AFC Bridgnorth and Shawbury United have shifted into the Midland League Division One. Wem Town have moved into the North West Counties First Division South.

Wellington Amateurs applied for promotion to step six but were denied.
