The hosts started more brightly and forced a couple of early saves from Curtis Pond.

Jordan Davies went close to taking the lead on the half hour. His goalbound shot eluded Pond but was cleared off the line by the retreating Sam Tonks.

In first half stoppage time, Chasetown took the lead against the run of play. Will Whieldon floated in a free kick from the bye line and Tom Hill met the ball with a powerful header past Ash Rawlins.

Chasetown were better after the restart and George Cater forced a diving save from Rawlins, with Josh Bradburn blocking a Dan Vann header from the resultant corner.

Drayton deservedly levelled in the 74th minute. A left wing free kick was powered home by the head of skipper Dan Beddows.

Chasetown squandered the opportunity to win the game late on. Danny Cocks was brought down in the box but Will Whieldon fired the spot kick over the crossbar.

The Scholars paid the price though in stoppage time as Beddows netted an undeserved winner for Drayton.
