Newport Town making an appeal after being denied promotion

Newport Town are highlighting their case to the FA after they were denied promotion to the West Midlands League Premier.

They finished as runners-up in Division One but have been refused because of an upcoming ground-share with Eccleshall.

Shuker Field, where they played this past season, does not meet league requirements while league rules state clubs cannot ground share to gain promotion or avoid relegation.

Newport, managed by former Wolves and Telford striker Adam Proudlock, feel other clubs around the country are bypassing that rule.

Meanwhile, St Martins have moved up a level, going from West Midlands Division One to the newly-formed North West Counties League Division One South.

Ellesmere Rangers have taken a sideways step to that division too.
