The Bucks hitman spent a spell out of Cowan’s AFC Telford side recently but has returned in fine form with six goals in three games in all competitions. Williams admitted he agreed with the manager’s reasoning for pulling him out the side due to not working hard enough.

And now the striker is pleased to have taken his chance and plans to continue doing so as the Bucks head to Chester tomorrow keen to avenge Boxing Day’s home defeat.

“Every striker wants to score goals and that’s what I was brought in to do,” Williams said. “The gaffer took me out the squad because I wasn’t doing that, and putting me back in has given me that bit of hunger.

“Ossy (Jason Oswell) and Jordan (Davies) did very well to keep me out the team for six or seven games.

“The two games the gaffer said I wasn’t working hard enough, we watched the clips and I agreed.”
