Boss Gavin Cowan wants to see a ‘massive’ response from AFC Telford United as they host Guiseley tonight.

The play-off chasing Bucks are going into the clash on the back of a 3-1 loss at Brackley Town on Saturday.

And Cowan is looking for a display like the one they put in a week ago, winning 2-1 at Spennymoor Town in the FA Trophy last 16.

“It’s massive for us now as we’re disappointed after Saturday,” he said.

“I expect the players to feel low because we weren’t ourselves, but they’ve got to get over it.

“You’ve got to get to that next game, whether you win or lose. I said to them after Spennymoor that I was very proud of them, but to then think about Brackley.

“And it’s no different when you lose, you have to be thinking about the next challenge.”

Despite the loss at St James’ Park, Telford remain in a strong position in National League North.

They are fifth, with a two-point cushion over eighth-placed Boston United.

And Cowan is not dwelling on the weekend’s setback, insisting it is a marathon and not a sprint.

“There’s a difference between winning football matches, and winning leagues and being successful,” he added.

“There are two different things there, two different targets which you set out to do.

“Of course, you’ve got to win football matches on a week to week basis. But there is a different set of skills when it comes to being successful in the league over the course of a season. That’s what I’m focusing now.”

Meanwhile, the Bucks have sold around 300 of their allocated 500 tickets for the Trophy quarter-final tie at Solihull Moors on Saturday, February 23. They can be purchased from the club office.
