Rob Edwards 'to have a long think' following bad Telford defeat

Dejected boss Rob Edwards admitted he is finding it tough to deal with AFC Telford’s spiralling form after they crashed at home to York City.

A visibly frustrated Edwards conceded he now has “a lot to think about” after last night’s 5-3 defeat at the hands of the Minstermen, adding: “I don’t like feeling like this”.

Telford’s third straight league leaves them just a point above the National League North drop zone and they have now won only one of their last ten league games.

Edwards, in his first season of management, vowed to continue as boss but admitted the situation was getting him down.

A calamitous first-half performance saw the Bucks 4-1 down at the break and booed off by the home supporters.

Edwards said: “It is hard. I have to have a long think.

“It’s a difficult situation because myself and all the staff have put a lot into it and work hard.

“We all want to win games of football and it is difficult when you don’t.

“I don’t like having an angry football ground, that is how it felt. I understand it because they are paying money and they are seeing the team make errors. It is tough to take.”

He continued: “I will continue to work hard but I don’t like feeling like this. It has happened too many times this year. I have to have a think about the right way to go.”

Asked if he intended to continue as manager: “Yes. I just have a lot to think about (in terms of getting it right).”

Sean Newton’s first-half double and goals from Raul Correia, Adriano Moke and John Burn saw York race into a 5-1 lead early in the second half.

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, who netted in the first half, then pulled one back with his second for the Bucks before Connor Johnson got the home team’s third of the night.

Edwards said: “I am sure people are fed up of hearing the same thing. I am not going to bore them with it.

“We made too many mistakes. It is the same old stuff. It was unacceptable.”
