Rob Edwards: AFC Telford playing 'well' despite defeat

Boss Rob Edwards is adamant AFC Telford United are still playing relatively well despite being just a point above the National League North drop zone.

The Bucks are 19th following a 3-0 defeat at table-toppers Salford City.

Reacting to the result at Moor Lane, Edwards said: “I’m extremely disappointed to have lost the game, first and foremost. I didn’t think it was a 3-0 game to be honest.

“The goals we conceded were disappointing and avoidable - and we didn’t take our chances. That isn’t a good recipe.

“I’ve just said to lads, though, a lot of what we’re doing is very good.

“We’ve competed for long periods against top of the league but we’ve got to be more ruthless, in both boxes.”

After a dull first half, Ryan Leak’s own goal put Salford in front.

Jack Redshaw and Michael Nottingham then struck for the hosts.

Edwards added: “Salford didn’t make too many mistakes and they took their opportunities.

“We’re not taking our chances and we made a few mistakes.

“It’s there for everyone to see. We’re really disappointed and frustrated, but there’s lots of good things.”
