Kidderminster vs AFC Telford: Rob Edwards expects open game

AFC Telford United boss Rob Edwards expects Monday’s clash with Kidderminster Harriers to be a lot different than the 0-0 draw on Boxing Day.

On a very boggy home pitch, the Bucks made it three National League North games unbeaten in the first of a festive double-header.

Edwards expects a more open affair at Aggborough, though, and said: “I am looking forward to it and the conditions will be different – the pitch will be a lot better.

“The ball will be on the floor that little bit more and their players who like to run with it will be able to do so, so we have to be aware of that.

“It’ll probably be a more open game.”

Harriers may be without star striker Joe Ironside after he was substituted because of a knock on Boxing Day.

But Edwards is not taking much notice of whether or not he will play.

He is only worried about his own players and will have to leave a few fit players out of the squad. Jon Royle and Aaron Simpson both missed out on the 16 at the New Bucks Head.

“Joe Ironside is a good player but we can’t worry about whether they have him or not,” said Edwards.

“We have good options and it’s about what we do, putting in a good performance.

“We have got the capability to make one or two changes and freshen things up, which is always nice.”

He added: “We can never come out and promise a result, but we can promise that we’ll give it our best shot – as we always do.”
