Boss Rob Edwards has revealed plans to have his squad train four times a week – and stressed they will not be a Wolves B team.

Edwards, chairman Andy Pryce and director Luke Fearnall took questions at a fan forum at the New Bucks Head last night.

Before that, supporters were invited to watch the team train in preparation for tomorrow’s National League North opener at York City.

The Bucks chief wants to put his part-time players through their paces on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, using both Wolves’ Compton Park training complex and Lilleshall Sports Centre.

When asked what his aims are for the season, Edwards said: “We can’t guarantee that we will be at the top of the league or in the play-offs.

“We need a bit of realism, we are only five weeks in and know there is areas to work on.

“What I can guarantee is that me and the lads will give 100 per cent. We will try and play in the right way, in the right areas.

“We are fighting against teams that are further down the line than us, but we will give it everything to try to make you all proud to watch your team.”

Edwards, who revealed he is currently doing a pro licence course with the likes of Thierry Henry and Mikel Arteta, remained tight-lipped on who will be his captain, insisting supporters will find out at Bootham Crescent tomorrow.

He also insisted he wants a squad of ‘between 18 and 20’ to work with ‘consistently throughout the year’.

Pryce revealed players could face fines if they do not spend half an hour in the players’ lounge with supporters after games.

Telford have a good relationship with Wolves and have signed two of their players – Aaron Hayden and Aaron Simpson – on season-long loans.

On the link, Edwards said: “We have Aaron Hayden and Aaron Simpson in because I feel they will make us better.

“It would be stupid not use a club of that size, and using the facility – the players have loved it.

“We are AFC Telford United. We will not be a Wolves B team.”

He added: “I used to watch Telford when I was young. I want to do well for this club and this town.

“We need to be hard working, be professional and do the best job we can do.

“If you are seeing exciting football, you will come. I really do think we can have something going.”
