Caretaker manager Graham Hyde has been put in charge of the Bucks until the end of the season following previous boss Mark Cooper's departure to become assistant manager at Swindon Town.

But the club are aiming to appoint a permanent successor and it is understood Teale and Withe have jointly applied for the job.

Former defender Teale said he and Withe would love to be given a shot at the post. He said: "Telford is a very famous name in non-league circles. We'd love to be the next ones to try and bring more success."

Teale has been out of management since 2006 but before that gained non-league experience at Burscough, Northwich and Chorley.

Withe managed Wimbledon briefly in 1991 but has assembled much of his managerial experience abroad, where he has led the national teams of Thailand and Indonesia.

The duo are the latest candidates to declare their interest in the job following former Gateshead boss Ian Bogie who did so earlier this week.

The team are currently struggling at the bottom of the Blue Square Bet Premier, six points from safety.

Chairman Lee Carter has not given up hope of the club winning their relegation battle. And the Bucks chief has told supporters they can still help inspire a great escape in the team's final 10 games of the season.

He said: " It's not over yet and I would urge every supporter to stick with us and stay positive."
