Robbie Clarke buoyed by performances

Oswestry skipper Robbie Clarke is confident his side can clear the Birmingham League Division One danger zone after pushing high-flying Kidderminster close last weekend.

The Morda Road side are third-bottom of the early table and host a Brockhampton side a place below in the standings tomorrow.

And Clarke believes his side can turn things around in what is a proving a competitive division this season.

He said: “All sides are capable of beating each other on their day, but we are now competing well and must take heart from that.

“We know a couple of wins on the bounce could see us right up the table.

“We did well to get ourselves back into the game, but unfortunately didn’t quite bowl the right line and length at the death.’’

Brockhampton – who won last weekend – were relegated along with Kidderminster from the Premier Division at the end of last season.

With Wellington also winning last weekend, the gap at the bottom of the league has now closed and Oswestry will be anxious to secure maximum points against the Herefordshire side.

Shifnal go to Halesowen looking for an immediate response after their embarrassing defeat last weekend when they were bowled out for 32.

But they are still without Connor Dudley, who suffered a dislocated shoulder after falling awkwardly in the clash at Bromsgrove on May 12.

“We’re just waiting to see with him, I don’t know exactly when we’ll find out,” said skipper Chris Murrall.

“Hopefully we’ll find his results in the next couple of weeks but it’s just a wait and see basis at the moment.

“We have to put last week behind us, put it down to whatever and move on.”

Murrall is boosted by the return of towering paceman Alex Wyatt, who has recovered from a shoulder injury. He comes in for the unavailable Kyle Klein.
