Former Wrekin College pupil Pennington, who plays for Shrewsbury in the Birmingham League, finished with figures of 1-61 from nine overs.

The 19-year-old made three with the bat as the Pears suffered a late collapse chasing 293 for victory.

But it was Ed Barnard, who also came through the ranks with Shrewsbury and Shropshire, who hit the winning runs at Edgbaston as Worcestershire secured top place in the group and a home semi-final courtesy of a one-wicket win.
