Will Parton: Shropshire learning quickly
Delighted skipper Will Parton praised his Shropshire side for being quick learners as they delivered a Bank Holiday double over Oxfordshire.
After opening the new Twenty20 competition for Minor Counties clubs with defeat in both games against Berkshire on Sunday, Parton’s men enjoyed the perfect response in front of a healthy crowd at Shrewsbury’s London Road ground yesterday.
And Parton, who was playing on his home ground, hailed the efforts of his side for getting back on track.
“We had a plan and everyone batted really well,” said Parton. “We learnt from what we did wrong against Berkshire.
“We knocked it round in the middle, we took advantage of the power play at the start and then when we came out to bowl everyone did exactly what they were supposed to do. We fielded well, we hit the areas, we made it difficult for them and I think every part of our game was brilliant. I can’t fault anybody.”
Shropshire sit third in the five-team group, two points behind leaders Berkshire having played the same number of games.
