The Worcestershire batsman is in a squad that features three players that featured in England’s Test summer – Mark Wood, Tom Westley and Keaton Jennings.

The Lions, whose programme is centred round a training camp but with match practice on the agenda too, will be based in Brisbane from November 14 and then Perth.

Essex coach Chris Silverwood, among the contenders to become England’s new fast-bowling specialist next year, will join the Lions management on tour for the second successive winter – alongside Andy Flower and former Surrey and England limited-overs captain Adam Hollioake.

Meanwhile, Shrewsbury paceman Dillon Pennington is amongst eight new faces in an 18-man Young Lions squad selected for the final stages of England’s preparations for next January’s Under-19s World Cup. They have a Tri-Series against South Africa and Namibia in Potchefstroom from November 23 to December 10.
