A superb all-round performance saw the Davenport Park outfit dominate the game from start to finish.

Skipper Dale Quiney, having won the toss, put the visitors in on a pitch which looked good for batting.

It was a decision which paid off as tight, disciplined bowling from the likes of James Parker (4-15) and Will Weir (2-41) meant the visitors made only 213.

That total which was chased down in just 37 overs by Worfield openers Patrick Butler and Will Cook, the latter of whom finished on 99 not out.

A delighted Quiney said: "I told the lads in the dressing afterwards that it was one of the best all-round performances I have seen in my career.

"All of the bowlers contributed and Patrick and Will then batted superbly. It looked a decent pitch but I decided to play to our strengths and bowl first. It paid off."

The win means Worfield have now opened a 29-point gap between them and the bottom four.

Whitchurch remain bottom-but-one after taking six points from a losing draw at Handsworth, while Newport are up to sixth after a nine-wicket win at Brewood.

Shrewsbury picked up their second win in a row to continue climbing the Premier Division table.

Three wickets for spinner Henry Blofield and strong performances with the bat from Will Parton and Ed Foster saw them ease to a three-wicket win at Leamington on Saturday.

After a slow start to the season left them languishing near the foot of the table, Shrewsbury are now into the top half, sitting sixth thanks to victories in three of their last four games.

At Leamington, they were always in command thanks to accurate bowling from the likes of Mike Barnard, whose nine overs went for just 11 runs.

Despite recovering from 66-5 to post 198, the hosts always looked up against it.

That was even before Shrewsbury openers Parton and Foster had made a serious dent in the target with a first wicket stand of 138.

Parton eventually went for 58, while Foster top-scored with 79.

In Division One, Bridgnorth saw their winning run come to an abrupt halt as they were beaten by 96 runs at home to Brockhampton.

South African overseas star Senuran Muthusamy struck 133 from just 141 balls as the visitors, batting first, scored 280-8 batting first.

It was a total which always looked like being beyond the hosts, particularly after they had slumped to 42-6 in the face of some accurate bowling from Jamie McIlroy (3-23) and Muthusamy.

A defiant 86 from Dan Vernon restored some pride but no other batsman scored above 22 as Bridgnorth were all out for 184, Muthusamy finishing with figures of 4-62.

Wellington are now just one place behind Bridgnorth in eighth after a seven-wicket win over Sutton Coldfield.

Wendell Wagner claimed 4-33 as the visitors were bowled out for just 172. An unbeaten 87 from Bhargav Merai then steered the hosts home with more than 12 overs to spare.

Shifnal lost top spot in Division Two after a below par batting display condemned them to a six-wicket defeat in a low-scoring affair at Penkridge.

Opener Tom Collins, who top-scored with 40, was one of only three players to get out of single figures as the visitors were dismissed for just 132.

Penkridge found the chase far from easy however and when Attiq Chisti was the fifth man out, with 54 still required for victory, Shifnal were back in the game.

But Laeq Chisti held his nerve to hit an unbeaten 38 to see the hosts home with eight overs to spare.
