Boxing hero Richie Woodhall adds punch to our Christmas toy appeal
Boxing hero Richie Woodhall is the latest celebrity to throw his support behind the Shropshire Star and Storage King Christmas Toy Appeal.
The former super-middleweight world champion urged people to give generously to our appeal which aims to bring a little festive joy to youngsters who might otherwise find Christmas a difficult time of year.
We are appealing for people to donate brand new toys, games, books and other gifts to the appeal, which will be shared out among organisations which support young people.
Richie, who has lived most of his life in Telford, said he was pleased once again to be able to support the appeal, which this year will be collecting gifts for five charities.
"It's fantastic because it helps so many children," he said.
"I always like to support the toy appeal because it makes so many children happy."
Last week former Only Fools and Horses star John Challis also urged people to get behind the appeal.
We are collecting toys for The Movement Centre in Gobowen, which provides pioneering treatment for youngsters with mobility problems, Hope House children's hospice in Morda, near Oswestry, and The Harry Johnson Trust for children with cancer.
Telford & Wrekin children's services, and the children's wards at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals trust will also share the gifts.
Last year's appeal saw more than 1,200 gifts donated to good causes around the county, and once again we are urging people to help make Christmas special for youngsters who might be finding the festive season difficult for one reason or another.
