Salop are currently bottom of the League One table, and they are nine points from safety after a bruising 4-1 defeat at Cambridge last weekend.
There are four matches until the transfer window opens, and Ainsworth gets his first chance to put his stamp on the Town squad.
And while he says there could be one or two changes, the boss does not see there being big differences in the squad come the end of the window.
He said: "What the chairman has done for this football club over the last 28 years is phenomenal. There is no way people should just expect him to give us mega money to go and sign players.
"He has run it well, he is a real good guy, and he has brought me in to try and sort it out with the players I have got and one or two additions in January.
"I do not think it is going to be wholesale, but even then, we have got to see in the next few games if can we perform, can we get some points I believe we can. I really do.
"I do not want it to be wholesale. I want to work with this group. There are some good lads in this group every manager, all 92 of them, will have targets lined up now, and if they have not, then they should not be a manager.
"Of course, there are targets lined up, but whether we get them or not is another matter. I have been in this position many times.
"There are some gems, but there are some gems in this squad as well. I just want them to perform to their full potential and that is my job."
