As the horrendous weather swept through the UK over the weekend, the hardcore Salop fans made the journey from Shropshire to Cambridge - which is almost 150 miles one way - to watch their team produce a terrible defensive performance in a relegation six-pointer.
Football matches across the country were cancelled as red alert warnings were issued by authorities suggesting danger to life if people travelled.
The Merseyside derby was arguably the most notable game to be postponed but in League One matches at Blackpool, Crawley and Bristol were also cancelled - in hindsight, it is a shame Salop's was not.
The weather had a big impact on the match with the rain at times horizontal in direction.
But the only thing worse than the weather on this occasion was Shrewsbury's defending as they fell to a 4-1 defeat at Abbey Stadium to Cambridge United.
It was a huge game in the context of Town's season and Ainsworth's side turned up with the hope of getting three points they badly needed to help their quest to stay in League One this season.
But as has been the case in all but one league game, they failed to keep the ball out of their net.
This time they conceded four goals - once again - they were all goals that could have been avoided.
