Walsall v Shrewsbury - Sadler discusses his former club's 'tough' situation

Walsall boss Mat Sadler revealed he was 'gutted' to see Paul Hurst lose his job as Shrewsbury Town head coach.

Sadler is a fan favourite in Shropshire after making more than 200 appearances for Town as a player - a lot of which came under Hurst during his first spell at the club. 

But Sadler has since retired and is now in charge of Walsall, who sit second in the League Two table after a brilliant start to the season - they have won eight of their first 14 matches. 

And with Salop set to take on Walsall in their final EFL Trophy game Sadler recognises it is a challenge for everyone involved at Shrewsbury at the moment.

"They're having some tough times," Sadler said. "I know Paul (Hurst) and Chris (Doig) who've just lost their jobs there really well.
