The Shropshire swimmer, 17, took home two golds from Swimming Pool Wezenberg as part of an 18-strong British squad which won a total of 14 medals.

Reigning European champion Anderson was the pick of the bunch, though, as she won the women’s 100-metre freestyle on day one and then swam a lifetime best to win the 200m freestyle 24 hours later.

In the 100m, the Ellesmere Titans swimmer touched home in 54.12 seconds – three-tenths quicker than Danish runner-up Signe Bro. And the gap between the two was even closer in the 200m, with Anderson pipping Bro by two-hundreths of a second in a race where they were close throughout.

Reflecting on the weekend of racing, British Swimming performance director Chris Spice said: “The two days of racing at the Flanders Meet demonstrate the talent pool that we are developing and nurturing in Great Britain.

“The ability to deliver such strong performances at this early stage of the season and against world-class talent from a range of big swimming nations bodes well.”
