Robinshill overcomes bad mistake for Ludlow victory

Robinshill overcame a bad mistake at the final fence to follow up a recent course and distance success in the totequadpot Handicap Chase on an action-packed card.

Zac Baker hung on tightly to the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained six-year-old to keep the partnership intact and maintain the momentum, with the 15-8 favourite scoring by five lengths from Pearls Legend with Walden Prince third.

Robinhill's task was made easier when Chirico Vallis, who had ranged up alongside, fell four out.

It was the third time running Robinshill had struggled to get over the final obstacle.

He unseated his rider there when four lengths clear in a race won by Darebin and then jinked to the left before scoring on his previous start after hitting the penultimate fence.

"It was a big scare, but he won, that's the main thing. Zac sat tight," said Twiston-Davies.

"If he gets it all clear for a good round of jumping, he could be a very nice horse."

Rocklander took advantage of falls by his two closest pursuers to gain a hollow victory on his first attempt over fences in the Racing UK Beginners' Chase.

Shanrow In Milan and Midnight Target were both in contention when they came down at the third and second-last fences respectively.

Their exits allowed Adrian Heskin to coast home on the Tom George-trained even-money favourite, 53 lengths clear of Bendomingo.

New To This Town (4-7 favourite) won an eventful race for the Placepot Quadpot Two Bets One Slip Maiden Hurdle.

The drama began when The Major ran out at the fourth after his saddle slipped. The Major continued riderless and caused May Mist to run off the hurdles course before the third-last flight.

New To This Town took command in the hands of Robbie Power and Colin Tizzard's six-year-old went on to land the odds by two-and-a-quarter lengths from Awake At Midnight.

Robin The Raven (13-8) ran his rivals ragged as he led all the way in the toteexacta EBF Stallions 'National Hunt' Novices' Hurdle.

David Bass just had to keep Kim Bailey's five-year-old up to his work to see off Crucial Role by eight lengths.

Robin Dickin's Galactic Power (7-2 fav) edged out Dentley De Mee by a head after a good duel to land the spoils in the totetrifecta Handicap Hurdle under Tom O'Brien.

The Artful Cobbler (7-2 joint-favourite), trained by Henry Daly, rallied in game fashion for Paddy Brennan to storm past Good Man Vinnie close home and get the verdict by a length and a half in the 2018 Annual Membership Now Available Novices' Handicap Chase.

Olly Murphy's Saucysioux (11-10 fav) powered clear on the run-in to beat the always prominent Posh Totty, who was receiving 26lb, by 17 lengths under 5lb claimer Jonjo O'Neill in the Collect totepool Winnings From Betfred Shops Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle.
