Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club hit the fairway to raise funds for charity

Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club have pitched in to raise a superb £9,000 for charity.

The club hosted its fourth annual Teenage Cancer Trust Charity Golf Day with 19 teams gracing the fairways to raise funds.

With the support of main sponsor MG Shopfronts, supported by Benham BMW, some great prizes were up for grabs including the opportunity to win a BMW for a weekend.

As the players returned to the clubhouse a whole host of scores in the mid to low 60s were signed for but the team of Paul Hebdon, Peter Buckley, Jonny Wilkinson, Angus Taylor shot a fantastic 58.2 to take first place.

Chris Clayton, Amrit Singh, Andy Hughes and Tony Wheeler were runners-up with 59.5.

At the evening presentation there were some great prizes to be won in the auction with the first a a fourball at The Astbury and a Srixon Tour Bag signed by 12 tour players including Smylie Kaufman, Shane Lowry and Graeme McDowell.

The second prize was a three-ball at The Belfry with ex-England cricketer Matthew Hoggard.

Both prizes helped raise some significant money towards the charity.

Next year's event will take place on Friday, September 22.
