Claire Snaith makes a winning comeback

Claire Snaith made a winning comeback at the Hollies Tennis Club championships.

After a 20-year gap, Snaith returned to the Tarporley Road-based club after pursuing her career and raising a family to regain her singles and doubles titles.

Chris Jackson also had cause for celebration as club members, friends and families enjoyed five high-quality matches.

Jackson hung on to his singles title and won the men's doubles with a new partner, Jon Gilbert.

Wendy Paton and Steve Egerton triumphed in their mixed doubles match against the new partnership of Paul Sweetnam and Jane Rylands.

The winners of the junior tournament also were presented with their awards.

The prizes were presented by club chairman Alison Reid and men's captain Mike Shrimplin.

Ladies – Singles: Winner Claire Snaith, runner-up Becky Heath; Doubles: Claire Snaith and Becky Heath, runners up Wendy Paton and Rosemary Gilbert; Monthly tournament: Paula Fraser; Clubman of the year: Paula Fraser.

Men – Singles: Winner Chris Jackson, runner-up Peter Egerton; Doubles: Winners Chris Jones and Jon Gilbert, runners up Peter Egerton and Dan Large; Monthly tournament: Paul Sweetnam; Clubman of the Year: Steve Egerton.

Mixed doubles: Winners Peter Egerton and Wendy Paton, runners-up Paul Sweetnam and Jane Rylands; Chairman's Invitation under:18 Shield: Elliott Hall; Senior Boys Cup: Winner Andrew Sweetmam, runners-up Christie Reid, Oliver Davies.
