Shropshire rower Fred Gill narrowly failed to land a medal at the European Championships.

Shrewsbury's Gill was part of the GB men's eight which finished fifth in a tight final, ending just two seconds behind gold medal crew Poland.
The 26-year-old was part of a team which claimed their best-ever haul of five medals at the championships, where Britain are traditionally represented by development crews.
