A 33-year-old German man has been arrested after several people were stabbed in Munich city centre.

Officers in the Bavarian capital said they have “no serious doubt” that the man arrested was the assailant, after an incident which is not thought to be terror-related.

Munich Police Chief Hubertus Andrae said there were no serious injuries.

The suspect has not revealed a motive, but officials say they do not think the Saturday morning incident was terror-related.

Mr Andrae told reporters there is no indication that an extremist, political or religious background factored into the attack.

Officials believe that the suspect – who had a previous police record – has psychological problems.
