A wild elephant surprised residents of a town in China after separating from his group and exploring the streets.

Footage shared by state broadcaster CCTV showed the massive animal looking somewhat lost as he roamed around Meng’a in Yunnan Province.

CCTV said the authorities closely observed the Asian elephant’s movements and he was finally led to safety.

The Asian elephant, a protected species in China, is the largest living land animal in Asia.
