Police are seeking information after a flurry of bizarre graffiti appeared on buildings and signs in Inverness.

Messages declaring the earth is flat have been daubed in a variety of places according to a post the Highland and Islands police division shared on its Facebook page.

It’s even been seen with arguably weirder sprayings.

It may have made a few people chuckle, but the troublesome messages are beginning to concern local people.

“We have a zero tolerance for graffiti in the Highlands but if we allow this vandal to get away with it then it could just be the start,” Inverness South councillor Duncan Macpherson told the Inverness Courier.

“We need to find out who is doing this and nip it in the bud before it becomes a bigger issue. What we don’t want is people adding to it.”

Aristotle was one of the first to declare the Earth was round, going against the general belief of the time that the earth was flat. He analysed star patterns in different places to prove his theory that people see different stars in the night sky depending on where they are.

Since then, man has been to the moon and seen earth’s round shape from above.

Police advise anyone with information on the spray painted messages to call 101.
