Suspected killer on the run after pensioner murdered in Devon
The victim, aged in his 70s, was fatally stabbed at a home in Chockland Road, Kingsteignton, on Sunday.
A manhunt is under way after a pensioner was stabbed to death in a town in Devon.
The victim, in his 70s, was found fatally injured at around 9.20pm on Sunday and taken to hospital in Torbay, where he was pronounced dead.
It is understood that he was attacked on the doorstep and that the murder was witnessed by a family member.
Detective Chief Inspector Roy Linden, from Devon and Cornwall Police, said a major investigation had been launched and the suspected killer is still at large.
The victim was attacked at a home in Chockland Road, Kingsteignton.
Mr Linden said: “We have launched a major investigation following the death of a local man last night.
“We hope to be in a position to issue further details surrounding this incident to the public shortly.
“We hope that the public will understand that this is a rapidly evolving situation, and at this time the suspect remains outstanding.
“Additional resources are being used from across Devon and Cornwall with the priority of identifying those responsible, and as a result the residents of Kingsteignton can expect to see an increased police presence in the area.
“We would also take this opportunity to reassure everyone that this type of incident is rare.”

A neighbour, who did not want to be named, said police officers have given no information about what happened.
He said: “It’s just awful. We’re not just neighbours, we’re all friends down here. There’s only a few houses in this little close. It’s only a tiny road but we know nothing.”
