Man accused of racially aggravated behaviour at football match

A man has been charged with racism at an amateur football match in Aberdeen.

The incident is reported to have taken place at Tullos Playing Fields during an Aberdeenshire Amateur Football Association clash between Aberdeen University FC and Kincorth AFC.

Players from the university’s side abandoned the match.

A 29-year-old has since been charged and arrested for allegedly acting in an racially aggravated manner.

He is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court at a later date.

Police Constable Richard Morrison said: “We are grateful to members of the public and the community who assisted while inquiries were carried out.”
