Three murder arrests after man found stabbed near scene of car fire
The man in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene in Wolverhampton on Friday.
Three murder arrests have been made after a man was stabbed to death near the scene of a car fire.
Police were called to reports of a disturbance in Raven Crescent, Ashmore Park, Wolverhampton at around 5.15am on Friday, where a 4×4 had been set on fire.
West Midlands Police said people had mistaken the sound of the car fire for gunshots.
A man in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene and three men were arrested on suspicion of murder nearby, the force said.
Superintendent Matt Markham, of Force CID, said: “This murder investigation is at a really early stage and we are still trying to build a picture of exactly what happened.
“We’ve made swift progress in arresting three men, but we still want to hear from people who were in the area at the time.
“We know a number of people heard what they thought were gunshots in the area, but we now believe that this may be down to the car that was on fire at the scene.”
The force said they are expecting to remain at the scene throughout the day.
